What this tool does

Would You Rather presents a steady stream of two-option dilemmas — would you rather be able to fly or turn invisible, live by the sea or in the mountains, have unlimited books or unlimited films. You pick the side you prefer and a fresh dilemma appears. There is no score and no correct answer; the point is the trade-off you have to weigh and the conversation it sparks. The tool ships with well over a hundred original dilemmas, all family-friendly, so a long session never runs dry.

A small on-device tally tracks what share of dilemmas you picked the first option for, shown as a simple bar. It is a light mirror of your own leanings — not a poll of other players, since the tool cannot see anyone else’s answers.

When you would use it

Would You Rather is one of the best ice-breakers there is. The questions are easy to understand, everyone has an opinion, and the disagreements are friendly because nothing is at stake. It works at parties, on car journeys, in classrooms, at family dinners and in any group that has a few spare minutes. Teachers and group leaders often use a couple of rounds as a warm-up; the dilemmas get people thinking and talking without putting anyone on the spot.

It is also a good solo distraction. When you want a short, low-effort break from focused work, a few dilemmas are a gentle reset that does not pull you into anything demanding. And because each question forces a genuine trade-off, it can be a surprisingly thoughtful prompt — you learn a little about what you value by noticing which side you defend.

How to use it

1. Read the two options under “Would you rather…”.
2. Tap the side you prefer. Your pick is highlighted and the tally updates.
3. Press Next dilemma for a fresh question — or Skip this one if you would rather not answer.
4. Watch the bar at the bottom of the card: it shows the share of dilemmas you picked the first option for on this device.
5. The session tally line summarises how many dilemmas you have answered and how the picks split.

Getting the most out of it

In a group, the magic is in the explanations. Before moving to the next dilemma, ask one person from each side to defend their choice in a sentence — that is where the laughs and the surprises come from. For a bigger group, go round the circle and have everyone answer the same dilemma before you reveal the split.

On your own, slow down on the dilemmas that genuinely stump you. A question you cannot answer quickly is doing its job: it has found two things you value that are hard to rank. The percentage bar is just a curiosity — leaning towards the first option most of the time usually reflects how the dilemmas happen to be ordered, not a deep truth about you.

Privacy

Everything happens inside your browser. The whole list of dilemmas is bundled into the page, the random selection runs on your device, and your picks and tally never leave the tab. There is no account, no upload and no analytics on what you choose. Close the page and the tally is cleared — and because nothing is fetched after load, the tool keeps working with no internet connection.
